Materials: Our furniture is made from solid
oak and oak veneer on 3/4" furniture grade plywood. Other woods
are also available, usually for a 35% additional charge. Edges that
are going to be exposed to wear have a 1/4" solid oak edge. The
amount and use of solid oak varies with the type and style of furniture.
Backs are made of 1/4" plywood. Drawers use smooth rolling steel
slides with ball bearings, and doors are hung generally with concealed
European style hinges.
Finishes: The prices listed include a durable satin conversion varnish
finish over a choice of stains. Stain colors can be custom mixed for
10% extra.
Construction: Our furniture has glued and doweled construction. Beds
and other large components, which are designed to be assembled and
disassembled quickly without tools, are made with steel fittings that
are permanently attached and simply slide together securely. Bolts
with wing nuts are also used in some places for ease of assembly.
